Your Impact:

Our People & Places Solutions business reinforces our drive to improve the lives of people everywhere and epitomizes the "why" of what we do - the tremendous positive impact and value our solutions bring to our communities and society as a whole.

From facilities delivering life-saving therapies and ensuring clean water, to enabling the connection of people through all modes of transportation and providing access to technology - we're integrating a multitude of these solution elements to build the smart environments of tomorrow.

Start your Jacobs career with a company that inspires and empowers you to deliver your best work so you can evolve, grow, and succeed - today and into tomorrow.

As an Associate Environmental Scientist in the Contaminated Land Assessment and Remediation Section, you will take an active role in leading the delivery of projects.

This will include technical guidance for more junior staff in supporting the successful execution of field sampling programs and contamination assessment report writing.

You will provide mentoring to more junior staff in relation to the broad skills required of a consultant, both technical and softer skills.

You will take an active role in business development, responsible for building client relationships that secure repeat work and new work that supports your own personal pipeline, as well as that of others in the team.

More specifically, this role will include the following tasks that will be performed with support from other members of the team as appropriate:

  • Planning and execution of moderate to complex projects. You will provide technical guidance to support others on such projects as well as perform project management and client facing roles where appropriate. You will be supported by senior technical and project delivery leaders and you will support more junior members of the team.
  • You will have an indepth knowledge of the regulatory framework and technical elements of the contaminated land sector within your State or Territory, and a familiarity with the corresponding elements in other regions.
  • You will lead simple and moderately complex pursuits as appropriate and provide support as a bid team member for the pursuit of more complex opportunities.
  • You will collaborate with other Sections to help deliver successful project outcomes for our clients and you will support the broader section by providing informal leadership.

Here's What You'll Need:

You'll need a tertiary qualification in either Environmental Science/Engineering, Geology or Hydrogeology, but just as important will be your personal attributes.

You'll be as committed as we are to improving the world we live in, seizing the environmental challenges that we all face and coming up with solutions that will benefit generations to come.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Geology, Earth Sciences or with extensive years of professional or consultancy experience for an equivalent qualification.
  • Work experience in consulting is advantageous, particularly within the field of contaminated land assessment and/or remediation.
  • Be able to develop and justify a complex sampling strategy for various potentially contaminated sites with various proposed end uses (based on knowledge of national and local guidelines). This should include articulation of the benefits and weaknesses of several options to reach an end goal.
  • Can communicate complex technical and regulatory issues to a client in a manner that they can understand.
  • An appreciation of other environmental consultancy disciplines e.g., ecology, hydrogeology, hydrology, soil science, and cultural heritage would be advantageous.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and familiarity with videoconferencing practices.
  • C Class driver licence
  • Construction Industry White Card and current Senior First Aid training competency would be advantageous, but not mandatory
  • Strong attention to detail and an appetite to learn and develop technical skills relevant to contaminated land assessment.

Jacobs. A world where you can.
From our inclusive employee networks, to our positive mental health champions - we're committed to driving a cult
