Position Purpose

This is a 12 Month, Fixed Term Contract Maternity Replacement with the possibility of extending. The purpose of this position is to be responsible for the achievement of the daily QC plan to standard.

This position description does not form a comprehensive list of duties and can be varied or added to within the scope of the position and as discussed during the performance planning & review process (PPR).

Areas of Responsibility

Quality Control

  • Verify work order instructions against specifications
  • Verify incoming raw materials (yarn) against master
  • Carry out batch matching of yarn and update records promptly and accurately
  • Maintain all yarn master books as new yarns are introduced
  • Conduct in process inspections on all lines
  • Perform all required testing of finished product and document results
  • Monitor QC test results and ensure products released comply with specifications
  • Prompt communication of quality concerns to supervisors and technical staff to ensure faults are corrected in a timely manner.
  • Inspect returned product, complete JDE returns transactions and update returns database promptly and accurately.
  • Conduct batch matching of finished product in response to customer requests and proactively to reduce underutilised storage space in the warehouse.
  • Inspect imported stock flagged by Warehouse as nonconforming and prepare detailed reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Support the Lab with adhoc testing.
  • Carry out other adhoc duties as directed by Team Leader or QESH Manager.
  • Perform scheduled internal audits (trained personnel only).
Reporting

  • Prepare detailed reports in response to internal audits, nonconformances, product reports, batch matching reports, oven inspection and tuft lock.
Other duties

  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to enhance the efficiency of the QMS.
  • Assist the QESH team with decisions around product quality.
  • Ensure availability of stationery, equipment, tools etc. used within the department.
  • Cover within the Quality Team as necessary.
  • Attend department inductions & toolbox.

Qualifications and Experience required

  • Comprehensive understanding of ISO 9001 Quality frameworks and principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Sound communication skills both written and verbal
  • Great problem solving, organisational and planning skills
  • Proactive and solutions focused
  • Ability to work independently
  • Intermediate computer skills including MS office and JDE.
  • Internal Audits Certificate.
  • Completed training to L3 in matrix.
  • Ability to train to L
  • Certificate III in Competitive Manufacturing
  • Forklift license preferred but not essential
  • Manufacturing industry experience essential
