Delivered in partnership with the Victorian Skills Authority, the RMIT Skills and Jobs Centre offers free, expert advice on training, re-skilling, and job options for prospective students, job seekers and members of the community as well as providing a secondary career service for RMIT Vocational Education students.

Through a free, tailored career counselling service and regular employment workshops, the Skills and Jobs Centre provides support to the local community, RMIT students and employers.

The Engagement Role

  • As the Engagement Officer you will contribute to the performance and reputation of the RMIT Skills and Jobs Centre through purposeful engagement with Skills and Jobs Centre industry partners, schools, community groups and other bodies that help clients access pathways to employment and education.

This role comprises of 5 main elements:

Workshop Facilitation:

  • This role will require workshop facilitation on employability topics to a wide variety of stakeholders that include RMIT VE students, high school students, community organisation groups and public audiences.
Ability to tailor and run workshops both face to face and online is essential. Experience with diverse audience groups / ages and experience with those experiencing employment disadvantage will be looked upon favourably.

Industry Engagement:

  • Liaising with employers to source and capture job vacancies; as well as matching our students and job seekers to those employment opportunities is required. Following up with employers on employment outcomes.
Ability to post jobs and promote through our various job platforms and social media pages. Organise face to face and online industry events for job seekers and VE students as required.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Manage our relationships with stakeholders and provide outreach work. Promote Skills and Jobs Centre services to all relevant stakeholders internally and externally by doing regular outreach campaigns to stakeholders. Be an active member of the Skills and Jobs Centre Network.

Marketing Ability:

  • Able to comanage our social media platforms like InstagraM/Facebook / LinkedIn and Mailchimp to promote our services.

Representation at Career Fairs:

  • Work on the booths for Career Fairs and Expos / Open days / Orientation Days etc. Local travel will be required for this role. On occasion, you will need to be available on weekends and evenings to attend careers events in schools, career expos or networking opportunities.
Skills & Experience- Demonstrated success in an engagement or business development role with an ability to build industry partnerships and network An undergraduate degree plus experience working with stakeholders and job seekers. Strong Trade & VE knowledge Ability to develop and implement a range of innovative face-to-face and online employment services, events, resources and opportunities for a variety of audiences. Ability to develop and deliver training addressing employment and educationAble to follow reporting guidelines

Highly Regarded:
Graduate Certificate in Careers Education & Development / Certificate IV Training and Assessment

  • The interview process will include an interview and will also require the interviewee to deliver a 15 min employment related workshop to the panel.
