The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals.

The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.


Why do we need this role?


Strategy and Policy exists to protect the public through whole of National Scheme strategy, policy, engagement and regulatory governance functions that are effective and responsive.

The directorate provides high quality services that are national and run across the professions we regulate.

The Qualifications Assessment Policy and Projects Team (within Ahpra's Accreditation Unit) works in collaboration with other teams within Strategy and Policy and Regulatory Operations, to effectively support assessment of qualifications held by individuals seeking to register as health practitioners in Australia, including overseas qualified practitioners.

We do this by providing expert advice and guidance on specific matters, and undertaking projects related to qualifications assessment policy


This is a full time fixed term role until January 2024 and can be located in either our Melbourne or Hobart Ahpra offices working a hybrid arrangement.


Who are we looking for?
You will have demonstrated ability to work autonomously and exercise sound judgement and work independently in a complex environment. You will be able to effectively prioritise and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

We are seeking someone with strong experience in policy interpretation, who takes a holistic review, and able to make decisions in a timely manner.

Previous experience in qualifications assessment, education policy will be highly regarded.
