About the Position
ALS Food & Pharmaceutical runs a state-of-the-art laboratory in Sydney (Rydalmere) equipped with cutting-edge analytical technology. We are looking for a full-time HPLC Team Leader responsible for leading a team of HPLC technicians. You should be an outstanding team leader, communicator, and possess a solid background in HPLC with proven analytical and practical problem-solving skills within a GMP setting.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
The chosen candidate will carry out various duties, including but not limited to:

  • Train, guide and develop staff to foster knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Conduct routine laboratory tests.
  • Show operational expertise in all testing aspects.
  • Offer technical advice and support to staff.
  • Handle data processing.
  • Approve test results.
  • Identify Out of Specification / Out of Trend test outcomes and alert the supervisor to ensure timely investigation.
  • Apply GLP principles.
  • Support the Production Manager in planning and meeting analysis deadlines.
  • Manage and operate instrumentation as necessary.
  • Independently perform tests, interpret results following approved methods, and utilize resources for testing.
  • Ensure QC is conducted as per ALS F&P Quality Systems requirements.
  • Notify the Production Manager of any technical equipment, method, or QC result issues.
  • Adhere to test methodologies and associated procedures.
  • Contribute to identifying process enhancements within the laboratory.
The Essentials
  • A Diploma or bachelor's degree in science (preferably Chemistry).
  • 3 years' experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership skills.
  • Effective communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent productivity and multitasking skills.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Customer-focused mindset.
  • Proficient in computer usage.
  • Familiarity with LIMS where necessary.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership qualities.
