We currently have an exciting leadership opportunity as an Engineering Manager - Platform Monitoring & Control within our key project Maritime Australia, transforming Australia's shipbuilding industry by supporting the building of a world-class, continuous naval shipbuilding capability for our nation.

The location of this role is flexible, can be located either in Adelaide or Melbourne.

Your new role:


Reporting to the Delivery Lead - Platform Monitoring & Control, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining and executing the Platform Monitoring & Control (PM&C) engineering management plan and tasking to support the delivery of the PM&C portfolio successfully to the wholeship programme.


More specifically, you will:

  • Leading a team of engineers focusing on performance and development of individuals and team
  • Creating an inclusive environment where safety comes first (psychological and physical) and we only go as fast as we safely can, while maintaining the quality required for the programme
  • Work with Delivery lead and enabling functions, to prepare specifications, develop designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards, and carry out design appraisals in assigned areas to ensure all standards are maintained
  • Responsible for all PM&C engineering activities from contract award to vessel acceptance for allocated systems


 Continuous Improvement Mindset
  • Participate in developing, maintaining and modifying engineering processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational needs
  • Act as the main point of contact with customers, suppliers and the programme in assigned areas on engineering matters, to resolve complex problems and issues and to maintain awareness in both parties of priorities and objectives

About you:

  • Engineering qualification or equivalent experience and chartered professional engineer status or ability and commitment to obtain
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate with employees and customers at all levels
  • Proven ability to function confidently within a multi discipline project team environment
  • Demonstrated good problem solving skills
  • Ability to partner with and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to obtain the necessary deliverables
  • Analytical ability in dealing with and maintaining the supportability of systems
