Job Description:


Refinery29 Australia is looking for a creative, data-driven social producer who is passionate about cross-platform storytelling that resonates with young women and gender-diverse people.


You must have experience working with social media platforms and understand best practices for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook & Pinterest, as well as a proven track record of strong community management and creating content that drives engagement and results.

Superior organisational abilities, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail are a must.

You should have a strong understanding of the Refinery29 audience and be able to produce content that speaks to their interests.


In this role, you will:

  • Distribute the best of our content on social media, including TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook and Threads. Be the gatekeeper of our social presence, deciding which pieces should be posted to each platform.
  • Pitch platformfirst content for each platform on a daily basis, including TikTok/Reels, carousels, interactive Instagram Stories etc. covering a variety of topics, including work, money, sex, fashion, beauty, politics, entertainment, relationships and travel.
  • Ideate content for new platforms (e.g. Threads) and brainstorm/test new ways to tell stories on existing social media platforms.
  • Create, shoot and edit vertical videos including PTC, junkets, red carpets, press footage etc.
  • Schedule content across Refinery29's social media channels daily, including sourcing imagery and drafting captions (primarily Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest and Facebook) and creating memes etc.
  • Localise the best of R29's global content to make it relevant to Australian readers, where appropriate.
  • Stay on top of emerging news and trends across all platforms, from TikTok to Twitter.
  • Appear on camera for videos (e.g. TikTok/Reels/YouTube).

Qualifications:

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A unique voice and point of view
  • Ambition and a drive to succeed
  • A strong understanding of social media and how to use it to reach young women and genderdiverse people
  • A hunger to pitch unique, engaging story ideas every day, come up with original angles and juggle multiple pieces in various stages of production
  • Experience producing different forms of media, not just written articles, and the ability to package content on each platform in a way that resonates with the R29 audience
  • Experience producing content for, and posting to, Facebook and Instagram via business profiles

This role is a full-time position, and will be based out of our Sydney or Melbourne offices.
