About the Role

  • Model personal recovery, selfawareness, selfbelief, selfadvocacy and hopefulness by sharing your own story of recovery to inspire and instil confidence in others.
  • Drawing on mutual resources as peers and utilising a range of recovery tools, techniques and experience, support consumers to identify their own achievable and meaningful recovery goals, develop, update, review the safety plan, and with planning, make positive changes to achieve these.
  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to have a personal lived/living experience of mental health, substance use and/or suicide.
  • It is highly desirable that applicants hold a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or can demonstrate that they are willing to work towards obtaining this qualification. Other relevant qualifications include a Certificate IV in Mental Health or a Certificate IV in Community Services.
