Role Summary:

The Media & External Affairs Advisor role reports directly into the Manager of Media & External Affairs.

You will have the opportunity to oversee a wide range of content to support the implementation of Synergy's Communications Strategy and positively influence Synergy's corporate reputation.


Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Support the media team with media enquiries, issues and crisis communications.
  • Proactively pitch, write and develop content for a range of traditional and new digital media channels.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the drafting, preparation and delivery of Synergy's external publications such as its Annual Report.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines as required; this can include occasionally working after hours and on weekends.

What you'll bring:

  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in communications, public relations, media management or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years' experience working in communications, media relations or similar.
  • Strong writing and communication skills across multiple formats.
  • A strong news sense, and experience leveraging media relationships to manage and promote key issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, plan and manage media appearances and events.
