We're currently seeking a Technical Director – Power Generation to become part of our Future Energy Group. This role is all-encompassing, focusing on the entire business landscape, including providing technical advice, overseeing the execution of gas and diesel power generation projects, nurturing technical talent, and playing a pivotal role in thought leadership and business growth.
GHD boasts a wealth of experience in successfully delivering projects using various models such as EPCM, EPC, Owner's Engineer, and more, both in Western Australia and beyond. Our local team is highly skilled in end-to-end power system design, covering generation, transmission, distribution, renewables, battery energy storage, and hydrogen technology. Based in Perth, you will collaborate with a team of seasoned engineers and project managers, engaging in our local, interstate, and global operations.
Joining a dynamic and influential team, this role promises a diverse range of responsibilities, including:
- Providing support to the Renewables and Generation team, the Future Energy Business Group, and other GHD divisions in gas and diesel power generation projects, along with hybrid generation projects involving solar, wind, and BESS.
- Offering leadership and solutions for all technical aspects related to gas and diesel power generation systems.
- Delivering technical advice on gas and diesel power generation, Owner's & Lender's Engineering, documentation, and overseeing the design of gas and diesel power generation assets, both grid-connected and off-grid (micro-grid) systems.
- Utilizing in-depth practical and technical knowledge to design, select, install, commission, and maintain mechanical systems.
- Leading and coordinating resources, including inputs from external offices, sub-consultants, and suppliers.
- Enhancing GHD's mechanical engineering knowledge and skills, covering planning, design, and construction.
- Providing technical expertise and reports to clients, adhering to both client and GHD standards.
- Engaging with clients, nurturing existing relationships and establishing new ones within the Power Generation sector, as well as leading and contributing to project proposals and bids.
- Coordinating gas and diesel components across multidisciplinary projects in Western Australia, Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, and SE Asia.
- Mentoring junior engineers to foster their professional growth.
What you'll need to bring to the table:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with Project Management skills being highly regarded.
- CPEng accreditation or actively working towards obtaining it.
- Minimum of 15 years' experience in the industry, preferably in a consulting capacity.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Solid technical knowledge of gas and diesel power generation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, sharing information openly and being a team player.
- Capability to work autonomously and strategize for the benefit of the Renewables and Generation team.
- Experience in preparing and leading successful project proposals and marketing initiatives.
- Strong decision-making skills, with a proactive, analytical, and problem-solving approach.
