Your new organisation
The Department is responsible for central coordination, strategy, and policy leadership in several critical areas. They implement a strategically coordinated approach to enhance the cybersecurity and resilience of all Australians. Additionally, they enable rapid responses to threats of foreign interference and contribute to Australia's prosperity and unity through the management and delivery of migration, humanitarian, and refugee programs. Lastly, they promote social cohesion through multicultural programs, settlement services, and by managing and conferring citizenship.

Your new role

As a Finance Officer, you will provide operational support and advice in relation to complex finances, including strategic planning of branch finances and associated program/project funding. You will apply accounting skills, detailed analytics, and strategic initiatives to effectively manage, sustain, and forecast the Branch's financial profile. Within the role you will:
  • Provide financial reporting, support, and advice to Assistant Director and Director.
  • Manage collection of information to monitor program budget, forecasts, and expenses.
  • Liaise with finance business partners to maintain internal controls and meet financial reporting requirements.
  • Monitor and process accruals and vendor invoices.
  • Improve financial processes and systems for efficiency and effectiveness.
What you'll need to succeed
  • Experience in a government accounting or finance area.
  • Qualifications in finance or accounting are desirable.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Previous experience with SAP/HUB and TM1 or similar reporting tools is highly regarded.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines effectively.
  • Currently hold, or have the ability to obtain Australian Government security clearance (Australian citizenship required).
