UGL's Maintenance and Manufacturing business have experienced growth within our Locomotive Components Division based at our operation in Broadmeadow, Newcastle NSW and we are looking for a Trades Assistant to join the team on a permanent basis.


  • This role is paid under UGLs Newcastle Operations Enterprise Agreement working Monday
  • Friday from 5.30am 2.30pm on a 9day fortnight with every second Friday off.

About the role

  • Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager this role will see you working in our locomotive components team assisting our trades, If you have a mechanical background or interest in mechanical work this would be highly desirable.

About You

  • Forklift Licence
    (essential)
  • Previous Stores/warehouse experience
  • Overhead / Gantry Crane Experience
  • Competent, favourable
  • Previous experience working as a TA or Labourer within a heavy industry environment.
  • Dogging and Rigging (Desirable)
  • Proactive and Enthusiastic
  • Ability to learn and understand Parts and Documentation
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Wash bay operation experience (Desirable)

Tasks

  • Disassemble components.
  • Assembly of components overhaul.
  • Complete quality documentation
  • Assisting trades with variety of tasks
  • Cleaning parts
  • Spray painting traction motors, compressors and components
  • Wash bay operation.
