Position Summary

Mental health - Consumer Lived Experience Worker

Latrobe Regional Hospital and the Specialist and Therapeutic Programs have exciting opportunities for a Mental Health Lived Experience Worker to join the Specialist and Therapeutic team.

The position will be based in Bairnsdale, Sale, Warragul or Wonthaggi community mental health services, on a part time/on going basis of 20 hours per fortnight.

Reporting to the Manager of the Specialist and Therapeutic Programs and supported by the Lived Experience Senior this role plays an important role in supporting and consultation with the aim of improving mental health service delivery by ensuring that consumers and carers have a meaningful input in the decision making process at all levels of service management.


The successful applicant will have:

  • Experience as a direct consumer of a mental health service.
  • Current Victorian driver license
  • Have or be willing to obtain a working with childrens check
  • Welldeveloped communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and liaise with other consumers, carers, staff members and other relevant agencies
  • Display an ability to work with the multidisciplinary team in a respectful and collaborative manner
  • Have good computer literacy
  • The ability to carry out the attached position description

Selection Criteria

  • Essential: Experience as a direct consumer of mental health services
