For more information on working with us and our recruitment process, please visit Department of Families, Fairness and Housing Victoria | Jobs ) THE ROLE As Senior Solicitor in the Public Law, Litigation and Inquiries Team, you will be required to, with minimal supervision, work independently and with more junior members of the team to provide timely legal advice and representation for key stakeholders that is strategic and practical.
Your advice must be clear, accurate and outcomes-focused.
Your legal work will include advising on a broad range of legal issues, statutory interpretation and administrative law matters.

You will manage sensitive litigation matters such as coronial inquiries, matters under the Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried) Act 1997 (Vic) and Hague Convention (International Child Abduction), discrimination complaints and personal injury matters.

The role requires the exercise of sound judgment, initiative and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues across the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.

The role is also key in supporting less experienced staff COVID-19 VACCINATION The department strongly recommends (but does not mandate) that employees maintain their COVID-19 vaccination status in accordance with current ATAGI (Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation) advice , given their individual circumstances.

As of June 2023, DFFH does not require evidence of COVID-19 vaccination status.
