As a Disability Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting our members living with a disability in their daily life activities
  • Helping members engage with their local communities and culture through access to Community Participation Programs and recreational activities
  • Support our members reach their goals and find new passions
  • Promote a sense of self dignity and respect for our members
  • Mentoring and skill development: assisting members to identify and pursue their personal hobbies and interests
  • Coaching independent living skills such as domestic and social skills
  • Medicine administration and following personalised support plans
  • Providing personal care support such as toileting, showering, feeding and dressing when required
  • Accurately completing incident reports and progress notes in timely manner

Mandatory Criteria:

  • Auslan (Sign language)
  • Formal qualifications in Disability or Community Services
  • Current driver's licence and complete access to an insured vehicle for member transportation
  • National Police Check (no older than 12 months)
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Current First Aid Certificates (HLTAID011) including CPR (or willingness to obtain)
  • Communication abilities that are versatile, including the capacity to engage with both verbal and nonverbal members
  • Experience working with people with disabilities who may have complex medical conditions and may present with challenging behaviours
  • Fully Covid vaccinated in compliance with WA Government mandatory requirements

Desirable Criteria:

  • Minimum 2 years prior experience working as a carer or disability support worker
  • An ability to work effectively both unsupervised and within a team environment
  • Sound analytical skills and welldeveloped interpersonal skills
  • Fast and eager learner, who thinks creatively as well as adaptable in a changing environment
  • Be prepared to work a range of shifts, including morning, afternoon, awake, and sleepover shifts
