Your new team

Orygen Specialist Program, a program of The Royal Melbourne Hospital, provides mental health services to young people aged soon to be and their families/carers in Melbourne's northwest and western suburbs.

Orygen Hospital Outreach Post-suicidal Engagement (HOPE) is an innovative service for young people aged 12 to 25 years experiencing deliberate self-harm, suicidal thoughts and suicide attempts.


Your new role:

  • Work closely with clinical and lived experience staff, including family/carer peer workers, to provide peertopeer supports, advocacy, referral and linkages
  • Support the implementation of Peer Support specific interventions within HOPE and providing consultation support to other members of HOPE team
  • Be a knowledge resource for the Peer Work specialty and building the role of Peer Work within HOPE and wider Orygen services

About You:

  • Lived experience of accessing youth mental health services and ability to share experiences in a recovery focused way
  • Qualifications/training in mental health are desirable but not required
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with young people and their families
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) as well as abilities in problem solving and negotiation
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team
