An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced and passionate individual to undertake a fixed-term tenure as OSHC Acting Director at Felixstow Primary School for the period, May 27th 2024- January 24th 2025, with the possibility of extension.

We are looking to offer approximately 20hrs weekly negotiable.

At Felixstow Primary School OSHC our philosophy and aim are to provide a high quality standard educational children's program and service which is able to exceed the needs of the children attending the service, families using the service and the surrounding community and relevant stakeholders.

We take great care in designing and planning our OSHC program to ensure that every child can have a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.

Our service provides quality programs for primary school students that are designed using the Australian Government's My Time, Our Place National Quality Framework to meet the needs and interests of each child.

We strive to create a fun and engaging learning environment for all children attending our service, regardless of their age, individual requirements, abilities, beliefs, cultures, or backgrounds.

Our OSHC program is flexible and inclusive, welcoming all children to join and thrive in our community.
The Felixstow Primary School Governing Council Incorporated is the employing body of our service.

The Felixstow Primary School Governing Council Incorporated and the Management Committee will ensure that decisions are made in an appropriate manner and in the best interests of the service and families.

As an Acting Director/ Acting Qualified Co-Ordinator you will:

  • Be responsible for the overall management and administration of the service.
  • Supervise the implementation of developmentally appropriate programs for children.
  • Recruit staff in accordance with relevant regulations.
  • Maintain daytoday accounts and handle all administrative matters.
  • Ensure that the centre or service adheres to all relevant regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure that the centre or service meets or exceeds quality assurance requirements.
  • Liaise with families and outside agencies.
  • Liaise with management committees as appropriate.
  • Provide professional leadership and development to staff.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the centre or service.
To be successful in this role you will:

  • Demonstrated interest in working with children and basic understanding of children's development.
  • Sound oral, reading and written English skills.
  • Reliable, punctual and mature attitude to work.
  • Welldeveloped communication and interpersonal skills, combined with a proactive, handson attitude.
  • Understanding of the importance of personal and professional boundaries, ethical behaviour, and policiesand procedures.
  • Experience working with children aged Effective knowledge of the NQF standards, School Age Care Framework, QIP and National Regulationsand Laws and Guiding.
  • Sound knowledge of the childcare administration program SPIKE CCMS (Child Care Management System)
  • Have an understanding and experience of working with Inclusion Support Agencies and claiming inclusionsupport funding.
  • Support and manage a small team of educators including the organisation of rosters.
  • Have indepth knowledge of the day to day tasks required to oversee the running of a quality OSHCservice.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Out of School Hours Care or Children's Services or an ACECQA approved relevant degree or qualification.
  • ACECQA approved First Aid, Anaphylaxis, Asthma training.
(HLTAID009 Provide CPR) (HLTAID0010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support) (HLTAID0011 Provide First Aid) (HLTAID012) Provide First Aid in an Education Setting)- A valid DHS/DCSI child-related employment check until it expires or Working with Children Check

  • Fundamentals course:
Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care- Approved Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.

SITSS Food Safety Supervision Skill Set or SIRRFSA001 Handle food safely in a retail environment or HLTSS Food safety supervision skill set - for community services and health industries.


Job Types:
Part-time, Fixed term, Casual Contract length: 263 days

Pay:
From $1.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
