Primary objective/General overview:

  • The Category Manager is responsible for driving sales and profit growth within the Lens product category for the Luxottica retail business. This includes both the optical retail store network and ecommerce for Australian and NZ (OPSM and Laubman & Pank).
  • Delivery and development of category plans.
  • Develop annual plans, aligned to the organisational strategic direction.
  • Lead and Execute Goto Market plans; New Product launches, campaigns and point of purchase initiatives.
  • Partner and align with cross functional teams to optimise execution.
  • Effective management of point of purchase drivers through indepth category, market and commercial understanding. Point of purchase drivers include; range, price and promotion (discounts) through data and insights.
Develop collaborative supplier partnerships, particularly with Essilor, to deliver the above.
Success is measured by the achievement of key financial metrics, customer net promoter scores, people leadership and cultural fit within the organisation

Main responsibilities and measurements:

  • 1. Collaborative supplier/manufacturing partnerships
  • Lead and manage the transition of processes, data, product and communications between third party labs
  • Maintain and fostering of strong trading partnerships with third party labs and customer care teams
  • 2. Data maintenance
  • Accurate Article creation, including Master Data File completion and uploads
  • Action cost and RRP changes both in system and communications
  • Action status changes
  • Check and ensure all work returned from data team is accurate
  • Effective management of point of purchase drivers
  • Lead Lens data analytics to maximise positive business growth
  • Leverage internal and external data sources to make insight led and factbased recommendations.
  • Review annual pricing and promotional strategy for Lenses. Develop recommendations. Lead execution monitor and review.
  • Develop annual promotional / discount plans; execute and review.
  • Lens Range Assortment
  • Regularly develop and maintain an active lens range assortment, which meets Luxottica's strategic needs and our target customer group(s)
  • 5. Develop and execute annual category growth plans
  • Create, with the support of the Lens and Contact Lens Manager, commercially aligned annual lens plan.
  • Develop and lead deep understanding of the Lens category through data, analytics and insights. Areas include the product features, benefits, the category and its environment plus consumer and shopper dynamics.
  • Align and engage internal stakeholders to develop and execute. This includes Product teams, Operations, Visual Merchandise, Ecommerce, Learning and Development & Eyecare.
  • Execute plans to deliver agreed budgets and timelines.
  • Ensure compelling and consistent brand communication across all channels
  • Continually improve the efficacy of our brand world, translating learnings from the field into improvements in our creative
  • Leadership from within
  • Lead all product forecasts and adjust plans according to inventory trends and availability.
  • Work collaboratively with the Operations, Digital and Marketing teams to ensure integrated and synergised retail executions.
  • Be the expert for category and consumer insights for the product portfolio.
  • Be an inspiring and influential leader within the wider business
