About the Role

  • An opportunity for an accomplished compliance leader to lead the implementation of the Santos compliance framework across the organisation to effectively identify, capture and assess regulatory compliance obligations and govern the development of controls (practices and procedure) to achieve compliance.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Lead and drive the company's compliance strategy, framework and implementation.
  • Conduct effective governance to ensure accountability for, and conformity with, legal and regulatory requirements is achieved with respect to legislative and contractual compliance obligations and reporting.
  • Establish systems to identify areas of emerging compliance risk across the Business and implementing strategies to mitigate and manage those risks.
  • Leading a team of compliance experts to drive the compliance culture and adoption of framework and practices across the company.
  • Establishing regular reporting for the Executive Leadership Team and Audit & Risk Committee with respect to the company's compliance framework, culture and management of obligations.

About You

Experience

  • Essential:
  • Experience as a compliance leader (manager / assurance manager / audit / consultant implementing compliance)
  • Establishing compliance frameworks and interpretation of legislative requirements into practical guidance
  • Understanding of regulatory structures, governance and regulation, and legislative interpretation skills (Sound knowledge of the Corporations Act and resources industry regulation).
  • Previous Corporate or Enterprisewide roles, direct experience with the engagement and management of a diverse group of stakeholders and accountable business leaders.
  • Managing and leading teams of professionals and/or individual contributors.
  • High level commercial and legal acumen with the ability to identify and mitigate risk.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to influence at a high level and build relationships
  • Desired:
  • Previous energy sector experience.
  • Previous legal experience.

Qualifications

  • Essential:
  • Graduate or postgraduate business, law or engineering qualifications.
  • Degree Qualified or Equivalent Tertiary and/or relevant work/industry experience in technical area.
