TMR's Land Transport Safety and Regulation (LTSR) Branch sits within the Customer Services, Safety and Regulation (CSSR) Division.

CSSR's purpose is to provide excellence in the development and delivery of customer, safety and regulatory services for all Queenslanders and our transport system.


As Director (Vehicle Safety & Reform), you will lead a number of teams including Vehicle Standards, Vehicle Safety Policy and Heavy Vehicle Reform to achieve optimal policies, strategy, legislation and allied reform initiatives ensuring they remain current and appropriate to address vehicle and road safety risk.


Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and manage complex multifunctional teams to develop, manage and monitor vehicle safety related policies, legislation, standards and reform activities, and provide expert and timely advice to internal and externals stakeholders including industry and members of public.
  • Provide high level advice to senior departmental executives and external stakeholders on risks and issues which may have vehicle and road safety impacts associated with vehicle standards, transport accreditation schemes, written-off vehicles, light and heavy vehicle legislation.
  • Actively participate as a key member of the Legislation Standards and Accreditation section, and the LTSR Leadership teams, contributing well considered and informed ideas.
  • Oversee day-to-day team and business unit success by managing recruitment, employees, budget and reporting requirements, and providing a supportive environment where team members strive to provide quality and timely services and contribute to a culture of collaboration, information sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Represent TMR at national and state based regulatory and industry platforms providing informed and considered advice to influence outcomes and decisions to ensure they are appropriate, proportionate and address the issues at hand.
