Role:

Role Description


The Social Worker (Mental Health Practitioner) will be responsible to the Principal through the Assistant Principal (Wellbeing), Assistant Principal(s) and the Wellbeing Team Leader.

In addition, they will liaise with Sub School Leaders, Year Level Engagement Coordinators and Teaching Staff to assist with the Colleges' response to the wellbeing needs of students and their families.


Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement evidencebased intervention strategies for students with complex needs including collaborating with families, other professionals and agencies when appropriate, and manage the associated risk
  • Work collaboratively with the school to contribute to policies and operational practices that will guide the work of others, including other school wellbeing staff and teachers
  • Provide leadership and professional learning to others, such as teachers and other school wellbeing staff, to build the capacity of schools to improve students learning and developmental outcomes
  • Liaise with other Department areas (including secondary school nurses and Student Support Services staff) and external service providers where necessary to provide support to students
  • Maintain professional competence and continued professional learning, including attending professional development activities throughout the year
  • Maintenance of confidential case notes, records and statistical information in accordance with professional guidelines, ethical codes, health records, privacy legislation and school requirements; and
Other duties as directed by the Principal, Business Manager, Wellbeing Team Leader and/or Assistant Principal(s).
