About the Role
We have a
Meter Validation Officer available in our Customer Delivery group.


As the primary interface with Urban Utilities Customers, the Customer Delivery Group is accountable for delivering accurate and timely bills to 625,000 customers in our service territory every quarter, managing all associated customer interactions, first response to faults & emergency, customer complaints, privacy and case management, and Urban Utilities' 500,000+ network of water meters.


This positions' primary purpose is to provide high quality, timely and professional customer service in relation to meter validation and enquiries.

This includes performing field inspections, report inspection results and meter reading anomalies.

Key Accountabilities

  • Carry out a range of customer service activities, including handling customer cases and enquiries that are more complex with a focus on technical advice whilst carrying out field inspections.
  • Use the internal and external communications systems to access specific information in relation to customer accounts and investigations required to resolve customer issues.
  • Prioritise own workflow and ensure work is completed to the required standards of productivity, quality and timeliness; use performance management systems to improve personal performance.
  • Develop working knowledge of the Urban Utilities policies and procedures and regulatory codes relevant to
  • Revenue Services processes, adhering to mandatory procedures to ensure own work is undertaken to the required standards.

About You
Experience working with water assets, including various types of metering (mechanical and digital), is preferred.

You will also have the ability to develop rapport quickly with our customers and effective working relationships with our Customer Delivery team and other relevant areas of the business to provide valuable feedback and assistance.


An understanding of computerised billing and reading systems will be highly advantageous, as will the knowledge of legislation relating to water utilities or the ability to acquire this quickly.


This is a challenging role, so it is important you have a strong resilience to work independently and efficiently during your shift and an ability to use your initiative to provide creative solutions to obstacles that may arise when conducting metering inspections.
