We currently have the opportunity for several Plant Operator & Multi-Skilled Workers to join our City Services Operational teams to assist with the provisioning of Waste, Cleansing, Open Spaces and Road Services from our Depot in Maroubra on an as required basis.


These positions are casual in nature and have no guarantee of shifts.

The department operates 7 days a week with shifts between 4am and 10pm.

  • In this position, you will be required to undertake plant and vehicle operation as well as waste, Cleansing, Open Space and Road maintenance activities throughout the local area including residential suburbs, town centres, beaches, and other public places. A commitment to workplace safety is fundamental as well as providing superior customer service to promote a positive image of Council.

What you will bring

A current HR or MR Class driver's licence

A current WHS General Construction Induction (White) card:

  • Demonstrated experience working in a team and an operational environment
  • Experience dealing with members of the public
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • An ability to perform duties with mínimal supervision
  • Be selfmotivated and show initiative in the delegated areas of responsibility
  • A willingness to comply with all Council's policies and procedures

Things you will do

  • Operate plant equipment consistent with manufacturer's specifications
  • Ensure completion of vehicle maintenance check sheets and reporting any damage or mechanical repairs needed
  • Efficiently carry out plant maintenance and drive council vehicles in safe manner
  • Be responsible for the general cleanliness and appearances of Council's vehicle whilst under your control
  • Effectively perform all activities in accordance with Council's Safe Work Method Statements
  • Focus on quality customer service based on needs of the community
