Job Description:
The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos is seeking a Senior Network Design Engineer to perform network engineering tasks, including design, analysis, and installation. This role involves providing engineering specifications, assessing computer data communications network systems, planning and implementing upgrades, and organizing hardware and software for combined engineering solutions through network modeling.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support engineering tasks for LAN/WAN networks
  • Assist in engineering management and projects (site surveys, coordination, design, and equipment installation)
  • Coordinate network engineering support and upgrades
  • Perform configuration management functions, such as updating topology drawings and managing assets
  • Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching (VLANs)
  • Handle network engineering tasks involving Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS, Brocade, and Foundry OS
  • Provide engineering support for Layer 3 protocols such as OSPF, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE, Viso, and Service Now

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in design, engineering, and operation of customer networks
  • Experience with military networks, Cisco routing and switching, and network troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of OSPF, BGP, VOIP, or multicast protocols
  • Knowledge of Cisco Switching/Routing product line
  • In-depth understanding of Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS, Brocade, and Foundry OS
  • Experience with Layer 3 protocols such as OSPF, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE, Viso, and Service Now
  • Strong knowledge of IP network/subnet addressing
  • Hands-on experience in diagnosing network-related issues
  • Ability to independently resolve technical issues in a dynamic environment
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
  • Security+ Certification
  • Bachelor's degree with 8-12 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 4-6 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • CCNA or other advanced networking certificate
  • Experience with HP NNM, Cisco Prime, and CiscoWorks
