The Role:

Our client is one of Australia's major suppliers of tools to the automotive aftermarket and has grown to become a leading supplier of high-quality tools and equipment to the hardware, automotive, industrial, and retail markets across Australia and New Zealand. Whilst our client has evolved over time, their focus has remained consistent – delivering professional quality tools at an affordable price.

With warehouses in Victoria, Queensland, and WA supplying products across Australia, in an environment of consistent growth, our client's warehouse and inventory activities keep them pretty busy. It's an exciting time to join the family and right now they have an excellent opportunity for someone with proven experience in an inventory-related, high-volume warehouse and distribution environment to join them.

Reporting to the National Warehouse and Distribution Manager, you will be playing a key role in the management of inventory on a national basis and driving efficiency improvements to improve inventory accuracy, processes, and operational efficiencies. Successful delivery of solutions to our client's customers and improve the entire customer experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervising a small team of Inventory Systems Coordinators.
  • Managing the daily cycle counting program and stock takes.
  • Managing the slotting program.
  • Managing inventory accuracy.
  • Ensuring all stock conforms to required standards.
  • Supporting the clearance of obsolete and excess stock.
  • Leading projects cross-functionally to deliver and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Supporting Warehouse Managers with managing hire pallets, RF, and Voice Technology.
  • Promoting a safety-first culture across the business.
  • Managing your team's goal setting and learning & development process.
  • Working with key stakeholders across the business to manage inventory and reduce variances.
Qualifications and Experience Required:

As you can see you will need to be well-rounded and experienced in inventory management.
Specifically, you will have:
  • Ideally some tertiary qualification in Business, Supply Chain. Management, Logistics, or similar, but not essential.
  • A minimum of 5 years of business experience in an inventory-related, warehousing & distribution, logistics, or supply chain role.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to relate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in a high-volume warehouse environment.
  • Experience and confidence in the use of MS Excel - specifically Pivot tables, x/v lookups, etc.
  • Experience using WMS systems – Pronto preferred, but not essential.
  • An excellent team-player attitude and are willing to roll up your sleeves to get things done.
