DVConnect is a leading organisation committed to helping Queenslanders find pathways to safety, away from domestic family and sexual violence.

They are currently searching for a Legal Officer who shares their initiative for making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

In this role, you will not just be a lawyer but a true partner to the organisation. You will lead the legal framework, ensuring that they are constantly managing risk and making informed decisions. You will be a generalist in your approach, working collaboratively with internal teams and accessing specialists when needed.


Reporting to the Director of Operations, the position will focus on the needs and aspirations of DVConnect in the delivery of its contractual requirements, privacy and information sharing obligations, legislative compliance and commercial risk.

The Legal Officer will also manage external legal counsel, when needed, to ensure that the organisation is adequately represented in any legal proceedings.


This role will also provide a rare and exciting opportunity to influence law reform through targeted advocacy consultation activities in partnership with DVConnect's Clinical Governance and Service Delivery Teams.


You will be a quick thinker who can understand and interpret contracts, and effectively communicate internally to ensure DVConnect continues to provide high quality services to its clients.


The role requires someone who can provide a legal check-in, not just advice, and can help interpret a range of legal matters, contracts, and regulations.

You will, help to navigate complex legal issues and ensuring that the organisation remains compliant with all laws.
