About IROC

Perth City Square is the home to BHP Iron Ore's state-of-the-art Integrated Remote Operations Centre (IROC). Operating 24/7, our Control Centre utilizes cutting-edge technology for real-time visibility and control over the entire Iron Ore supply chain. As a hub of technological excellence, IROC team members collaborate with on-site staff to make swift decisions that enhance safety and optimize value throughout the supply chain. Within IROC, you will collaborate with dedicated, innovative individuals who bring their best to the table. Coming from diverse backgrounds, they embrace new methodologies and receive comprehensive training to excel in their roles.

As a Port Controller reporting to the Port Control Supervisor in Perth, you will oversee the safe and efficient operation of all fixed plant equipment at our Port Hedland Port Operations. Your role involves coordinating equipment movements, monitoring plant operations, responding to faults, and adjusting parameters to maximize production rates while prioritizing health, safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development.

  • Control Execution of the production plan and respond to deviations
  • Plant Monitoring and Control of all Port Operations Fixed Plant Infrastructure
  • Act as a key interface between Scheduling, Rail, and Port operations
  • Ensure quality data capture for production downtime/delay accounting
  • Oversee Remote/Autonomous shiploading

Operating on a Lifestyle Roster, you will work a combination of day and night shifts with consecutive days off after each rotation. Enjoying two full weekends off out of four, the shift rotation options include 2D2N5X, 2D3N4X, 3D2N5X. Shifts last 12.5 hours, including handover, and offer additional allowances as part of your remuneration package. Employees on this roster also receive an extra week of annual leave per year.

  • Demonstrated commitment to Health, Safety, and the environment
  • Proficiency in detailed reporting, analytics, fault identification, and operational optimization
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • High level of computer literacy and system application proficiency
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Desirable experience in Port and/or Ship Loading operations or maintenance
  • Advantageous background in Control operations
  • Advanced problem-solving and decision-making abilities
