The Opportunity
Transgrid is at the forefront of Australia's transition to a clean energy future. We are the backbone of the National Electricity Market, and we are pursuing a nation-changing portfolio of infrastructure projects that will accelerate the decarbonisation of our economy.
Electricity transmission will be central to the energy transformation needed to achieve economy-wide decarbonisation. Transgrid is helping create a clean energy future by supporting and ensuring a smooth transition to renewables. Timely investment in new infrastructure will be essential for the power system's successful transformation to the energy system of the future.
Transgrid is reinforcing the transmission network in southern NSW with HumeLink - a new 500 kV transmission line project that will improve the flow of electricity between new generation sources and major demand centres in NSW. It is one of the state's largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 360 km of proposed new transmission lines, and new or upgraded infrastructure at three locations.
HumeLink will provide a crucial hub for the flow of electricity in the National Electricity Market (NEM). The project will enable high volume energy transfer around the NEM improving access to affordable electricity.
As the Site Manager - Substations, you will monitor contractor and internal resource performance and facilitate the site management of construction works for high voltage substation. You will also ensure project delivery is in compliance with associated contract specifications, Transgrid polices & procedures to meet all stakeholder expectations.
About you
Possession of an appropriate qualification: Electrical trade certificate or equivalent; OR Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Project Management or equivalent; OR Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Civil), Project Management or equivalent. Authorised under TransGrid's Safety Rules – (perform low voltage and high voltage switching) or be willing to undergo training to obtain Experience in construction, testing and commissioning of transmission assets Knowledge in the application of WHS and environmental legislation relative to duties of the position Knowledge of corporate drawings, design and management systems Sound interpersonal skills (including written and oral communication), which will facilitate the achievement of project objectives Knowledge and understanding of all relevant legislation, policies and procedures Good computer skills and knowledge of computer packages such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Project and Ellipse NSW Driver's Licence Willingness to assist with implementation of organisational change This position may require times of substantial time away from the base location, dependent on the work demands of the organisationRecognition & Reward
