About the role:

Located in the heart of Leederville, we have a full-time Planner - In Service Assets position available.

You will report to the Manager - In Service Assets Metro, and work in a fabulous multicultural and diverse team.

This team is full of self-empowered and self-motivated workers. You will have a Senior to support you on your journey in this role.


You will be responsible for developing Renewals Plans by assessing our water reticulation pipes in the Perth Metropolitan area (and by pipes, we mean over 15,000km).

Your job will be to keep all our assets in the metro area running smoothly and maintained properly.

You will analyse how our assets are performing and come to a solution to get our faulty assets back up and running.

This position is very Data and Engineer based.

You will have the ability to think strategically and analytically, by extracting information from systems, collating data from various sources, and essentially assembling what 'big picture' looks like.


Strong communication skills will be fundamental in this role as you will develop relationships with your key internal and external stakeholders.

What the role will involve:

  • Reviewing the performance of the reticulation pipes and historical failures to select Assets in need of renewal.
  • Extract and review Water Main failure data for root cause and propose remedial actions.
  • Assist in planning investment programs and review inspection for replacement.
  • Prioritisation of renewals plans
  • Develop or review CIP Business Cases for the Renewals projects.
  • Assist in providing GIS plans for proposed renewals projects to internal and external stakeholders
  • Interpret Water Corporation water and wastewater scheme plans and technical advice

Key skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate Engineering discipline and/or experience in technical engineering aspects of water, wastewater, and drainage
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Spatial GIS and PARMS (Pipeline Asset Risk Management System)
  • Engineering skills to interpret the Corporation's water reticulation plans and drawings.
  • Confident using Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to write technical documents and business cases.
