To advance this cause, Founders Factory has established a global Climate Tech platform to invest in groundbreaking technologies across various industries and international centers.
Based in Perth, Western Australia, with a global investment reach, we are introducing two new Accelerator programs in collaboration with the Western Australian Government and global mining giant, Rio Tinto.Through these initiatives, we aim to support over 72 startups over the next three years in sectors such as decarbonisation, mining tech, and nature-based solutions.
What you'll do:
You will oversee our Nature Tech program, backing 12 pre-seed startups annually and leading a team of operators to assist companies in developing their technology, navigating towards product-market fit, and securing a Seed round.
The startups we invest in will focus on nature, biodiversity, agriculture, food, forestry, water, built environment, and the circular economy.
As Program Director, you will ensure the exceptional execution of our accelerator program in partnership with Western Australia, involving experts from Founders Factory and beyond to deliver the program.
Our objective is for Founders Factory to be the premier platform for founders to launch and expand their startups, acting as a catalyst for innovation in nature and biodiversity across the region and globally.
We seek someone who shares this ambition, possessing the drive and expertise to make it a reality.Investing in pre-seed/Seed startups:
- Oversee the process for identifying, investing in, and accelerating 12 nature tech companies each year, with a focus on nature, biodiversity, food, forestry, agriculture, water, built environment, and the circular economy.
- Evaluate and qualify early-stage ventures, technology, scientific aspects, and founding teams, conducting due diligence and negotiating investment conditions.
- Identify key resources for startup founders and develop scalable methods to aid them.
- Lead and deploy a diverse team of Founders Factory operational experts to assist companies in enhancing their solutions, optimizing business models, supply chains, logistics, securing funding, and commercializing their ventures.
- Establish connections within the local WA community with founders, angel investors, venture capitalists, and universities.
Great candidates should possess exceptional interpersonal skills, determination, resilience, a profound understanding of founders' needs, and a keen interest in technology and startups.
Candidates should also demonstrate extensive knowledge of building and expanding a climate startup, along with an awareness of the scientific and business model aspects related to nature and biodiversity.
You will collaborate with founders throughout the accelerator program and post-program to assist in defining their product vision, go-to-market strategy, and fundraising approach.
Previous experience:
Relevant experience as an operator in Deep tech, climate, or nature tech.
Prior experience in scaling a nature or climate company, with expertise in government interactions and corporate sales.
Display relentless energy and enthusiasm for identifying opportunities, nurturing relationships, and delivering results.
Strong personal networks within the startup, venture capital, and talent communities in Perth and Australia.
The ability to communicate confidently and passionately, articulating the Founders Factory vision, uniqueness, and operational methods
Established relationships with high-caliber investors and startup founders are imperative.
A passion for decarbonizing heavy industry and expediting the move towards net zero.
The capacity to connect, empathize, and collaborate with top-tier founder talent.
Unwavering energy and enthusiasm for spotting opportunities, cultivating connections, and achieving goals.
A broad personal network within the mining sector and/or startup, venture capital, and talent communities in Perth and Australia.
The ability to operate effectively, maintain composure, and remain productive in challenging and uncertain situations.
Flexibility to collaborate across regions, time zones, and multifunctional teams.
