Division Responsibilities
The Legal and Assurance Division is part of the Department of Health's Corporate

Operations Group. The division provides support to the department through the provision

of a range of legal, assurance, project and risk management services. Legal and Assurance

Division comprises the following Branches:

  • Corporate Assurance Branch
  • Legal Advice & Legislation Branch
  • Corporate, Commercial & Litigation Branch

Branch Responsibilities
The Corporate Assurance Branch provides professional business, project and assurance

services to the department and Senior Executive and is responsible for shaping

departmental corporate, business planning and project management approaches. The

branch also supports the department by monitoring Health's portfolio of high-risk change

projects, developing and enhancing its risk management framework, providing

comprehensive business continuity support, delivering value-add internal audit services,

providing strong fraud and corruption control, and liaising with the Commonwealth

Ombudsman and Australian National Audit Office.

Section Responsibilities
The Portfolio Support Unit (PSU) aims to improve delivery of departmental projects and

other priorities through:
- undertaking review and analysis of the department's portfolio of projects***- engaging with Senior Responsible Owners and project managers on high-risk

projects, and providing advice and support as required***- developing and implementing the department's Project Management Framework***- building project management capability***- providing support and continuous improvement of the department's project

reporting system***- supporting the effective operation of the Digital, Data and Implementation Board.***
Key Responsibilities
Role - Project Management Officer: Commitments

  • Undertake analysis of government commitments to inform reporting to the Prime
Minister, the Minister and other key stakeholders.
- support the department's commitment tracking and reporting database, by assisting

business areas to enter and maintain effective and accurate information.
- support the implementation of consistent commitment management practices,

processes, and tools to drive and facilitate the successful delivery of commitments

by business areas within the department.
- foster collaborative working relationships with both internal and external

stakeholders.

Role 2:

Data Analyst:
Analysis and Reporting
- develop Power BI dashboard reports for the Minister's and Prime Minister's office

and other key stakeholders.
- design and build compliance reports to ensure adherence to departmental templates

and frameworks.
- support the department's project and commitment tracking and reporting database,

by assisting business areas to enter and maintain effective and accurate information.
- foster collaborative working relationships with both internal and external

stakeholders.

Key Capabilities
- experience delivering support and services to projects, either through a formal

project management office or through a project support role
- excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, and ability to build

productive working relationships in a team environment
- strong organisational skills, ability to multi-task and work independently, with a

focus on meeting given timeframes and delivering to a high quality
- strong attention to detail and proven ability to coordinate and develop materials for

senior management under the direction of a supervisor
