About the Role:

Reporting to the General Manager, Safeguarding and Compliance, this newly created role incorporates the function of an Authorised Program Officer (APO) and is responsible for:

  • driving industry-leading use of restrictive practices and person-centred support
- ensuring compliance with relevant legislation pertaining to restrictive practices
- identifying and reporting on use of restrictive practices
- authorising / endorsing use of regulated restrictive practices
- ensuring behaviour support plans detail the least restrictive practice where possible
- monitoring client behaviours, identify trends, and collaborate with internal and external supports to achieve positive outcomes
- developing, implement, and support processes to ensure compliance and continuous improvement
- assisting to provide knowledge to staff in relation to restrictive practices and behaviour support

About You:

You will have:
- a genuine desire to support people with disability to achieve their lifestyle and employment goals
- extensive experience and understanding of restrictive practices and relevant legislation, the NDIS Practice Standards and the SA Restrictive Practice Authorisation Scheme
- extensive knowledge and experience in behaviour intervention and positive behaviour support including trauma-informed practices and client-centred approaches
- strong communication and organisational skills and resilience in pressured situations, coupled with empathy, patience and understanding
- experience in liaising collaboratively with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders
- relevant tertiary qualifications (disability, social work, psychology, nursing, education, speech pathology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, or a behavioural-specific discipline or other allied health qualifications)
- the ability to analyse and interpret data and patterns to produce meaningful reporting

For this role the following documents must be provided prior to a formal offer of employment with Bedford Phoenix Incorporated:

  • National Police Clearance (no older than six months)
- a current Driver's Licence

  • NDIS worker screening clearance, or other NDIS approved clearance to work in the disability sector
- evidence of right to work in Australia
- evidence of FULL vaccination with a TGA-approved COVID-19 vaccine or an acceptable exemption*
