This is a maternity relief position and should the permanent incumbent require
an early return from maternity leave
, this contract of employment will cease with two weeks notice
. Maternity relief positions can be for a period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of continued employment for up to a further 12 months for maternity leave reduced hours, therefore there are no claims to permanency.


An exciting opportunity exists for a Health Education Officer Graduate to utilise their skills to support the health and wellbeing on the Central Coast.

This position will lead population health place-based initiatives, linked to the priority areas of the Health Promotion Service.

This work will be done in partnership with key organisations in our community to achieve population health KPIs and goals and utilising health promotion principles such as communication, equity, collaboration.

This position is based in the Central Coast Research Institute at Gosford Hospital.

The Health Promotion Service team is a dynamic, collaborative and innovative team who strive to work in partnership to positively impact the health of the Central Coast population.

This role will be working with Central Coast Primary schools, plus supporting other health promotion portfolios as required. This role will involve some travel across the Local Health Service from time to time.


The Central Coast Health Promotion Service aims to create a Central Coast where everyone can enjoy better health and wellbeing.

We do this by creating healthy places for our communities that promote good health across life's journey.

Through working together we provide information, programs and resources, and we advocate for healthy policy to ensure the foundations for good health.


About you

  • You have tertiary qualifications in a relevant field including (but not limited to) behavioural/ education/health/population health science, which requires a minimum of 3 years full time study
  • You have substantial experience in the planning, implementation and monitoring of evidence based population wide behaviour change projects
  • You have demonstrated skills in stakeholder management, including building strong relationships across government, NGOs and the community, addressing stakeholder issues and needs, and utilising innovative solutions to overcome barriers
