As Study Manager within the Infrastructure Development and Delivery team, you will be responsible for managing one, or multiple project studies ranging from $40M to $500M in the initiation, evaluation, or definition phase.

These projects will involve complex government frameworks which you will need to ensure Sunwater's projects align with. The role will also involve managing multi-disciplinary teams, consultants and stakeholders to develop and deliver project solutions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage multidisciplinary teams to produce robust Strategic Assessments, Options Analysis and Detailed Business Cases, according to the Queensland Business Case Development Framework and/or Sunwater's internal Project Development Framework
  • Steer the various technical aspects of studies to align with Sunwater strategic directions
  • Ensure effective and efficient study management and reporting focussing on budget, schedule, risk and quality of deliverables.
  • Manage the production of highquality written deliverables, detailed study work plans, study schedules, tender information and evaluation plans.
  • Highlevel of commercial acumen with the ability to assess problems and potential solutions from an asset Owner's viewpoint
  • Identify, manage and escalate project risks
  • Ability to drive improvements in processes and procedures for continuous improvement in the way Sunwater develops and delivers infrastructure projects
  • Promote a positive safety culture through safety leadership in the development and delivery of projects to drive a safe working environment for staff, contractors and the public

About you:


As a person with highly developed interpersonal skills, you will have the ability to work collaboratively and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve organisational objectives.

You will have demonstrated experience in managing studies for large scale greenfield and brownfield public infrastructure projects and can manage multi-disciplinary teams.


Key requirements include:

  • Qualifications in Engineering, Science, Management, or related disciplines
  • Experience in study management, including Order of Magnitude, Prefeasibility and Feasibility studies, with demonstrated experience in large infrastructure projects
  • Experience and/or knowledge of Queensland Business Case Development framework, financial modelling, economic modelling, and/or cost estimation
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear, concise and logical reports, presentations, and other communications, preferably within government frameworks or regulatory bodies.
  • A sound understanding of the context and environment in which Sunwater operates, with substantial knowledge of and experience in the water industry
