About the Role: As a Site Reliability Engineer you will serve as the Subject Matter Expert for our application hosted in the APAC region. This role will require a professional who excels in both independent work and collaborative efforts across our global team and companion teams. This role will ideally be based in Sydney but there is flexibility for it to be based elsewhere in Australia or New Zealand.

You will be working with a global team based primarily in the US and India, but also the UK. You will be responsible for several high availability leveraged applications used by both internal applications as well as external facing APIs. This technology is used by major banking clients in Australia. In this role you will be:

  • Focusing on scalability, high availability, performance, stability, and reliability of software applications
  • You will build automations to simplify operations and processes, collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure positive end-user experiences
  • You will apply sound engineering principles, operational discipline, and mature automation to our operating environment and codebase

What you will need:

  • Sound experience working with API gateways and REST
  • A solid understanding of products and interdependencies with a blend of practical, operational, and software development skills
  • Previous experience in a full production support role with incident management, problem management, and incident response experience
  • Knowledge of Linux administration and navigation along with data centre experience
  • Experience with SQL and ideally some Java, Python, Shell Scripting, and Bash Scripting knowledge
  • To be capable of working independently while also coordinating with product and client teams
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience in technically-focused roles
