CommBank's Trade Finance Operations team is looking for a Quality Assurance Associate to join our Global Trade Operations function within our Chief Operating Office (COO). The Trade Finance team operate in a middle-office environment and are focussed on the delivery and settlement of Trade Finance products. The team provide assistance in originating new business and servicing existing clients while performing validations, bookings, confirmations of traditional and structured trade finance products and solutions.

The Role.
As a Trade Finance Quality Assurance Senior Associate, you will take ownership of ensuring our business is compliant with relevant Standard Operating Procedures, relevant Policies and procedures, all while being risk aware and ensuring we meet the quality expectations of our customers and our regulatory commitments.

You will truly collaborate with the team to ensure SLA's and team targets are met or exceeded and will build quality and trusting relationships by completing quality assessments on the teams Trade documents, and subsequently, providing meaningful and informative feedback and coaching with the aim to maintain and/or improve the quality of our work.

The Trade Operations work includes servicing existing and new to bank clients for all their Trade Finance needs across Trade Loans, Import/Export and Structured Trade & Working capital to ensure we maintain and grow the client base. You may also partner with Trade Sales Specialists to ensure high quality and efficient service to meet and exceed our client's expectations.

On any given day you will:

  • Complete a required number of quality assessments whilst maintaining adherence to schedule
  • Mitigate risk for Trade Operations via prompt identification, logging and assistance in remediating various risk items.
  • Set and maintain the standard to which Trade Operations operates in its decision making and regulatory submissions
  • Efficiently engage multiple stakeholders to provide evidence and data driven feedback. Where required, provide additional tailored guidance.
  • Support the team in the development and updating of SOP's whilst also completing any required administrative tasks

We're interested in hearing from people who have:
Some knowledge of the global trade environment and the domestic trade industry, including International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits (UCP) rules. You will also have a solid understanding of the Australian and global banking regulatory and compliance and financial crime environments (economic trade sanctions and trade-based money laundering)

You will also have:

  • Strong Knowledge of AML and Sanctions requirements
  • Well demonstrated Quality Assurance skills, with experience coaching individuals to achieve their best
  • Knowledge of trade finance processes, the trade settlement process, the documentation and systems used are ideal.
  • Some experience focussed on improving client service by improving processes and reducing errors.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain customer relationships, through the delivery of exceptional service outcomes
