How will I Help?

Westpac Institutional Bank (WIB) manages the financial needs of corporate, institutional and government clients that are based, or have interests in, Australia and New Zealand.

The Banks and Insurance Relationship team sits within the Corporate and Institutional Bank (CIB) (within WIB) and manages and delivers strategic engagement to a diverse group of Domestic and International Banks and Insurance companies.

The role is based in Sydney and will report to the Head of Domestic Banks and Insurance Relationships.

As a Senior Associate / AD within the Banks and Insurance team you will pro-actively manage, own and develop the relationships of the portfolio of domestic banks to achieve growth and optimal return on equity while managing client and portfolio risk.

You will have proven skills and experience in managing bank or broader FI or NBFI relationships with a diverse range of needs. You will understand the risk components of the portfolio, including credit risk, compliance risk, operational risk, and market risk. You will have an in-depth knowledge of wholesale banking products and be able to identify and market suitable applications for these products. You will be known for your strong communication, networking, and relationship development skills, and will be able to establish relationships at a senior level of organisations.

You will partner with the Customer Insights and Analytics team and collaborate with a range of other internal teams including Credit, Legal, Transactional Services, Debt Markets, Financial Markets and Compliance to ensure our clients are supported with their needs met and anticipated and are ultimately serviced at an exceptional level.

You will also:
  • Deepen relationships with domestic banks with the focus on increasing customer share of wallet across all WIB products.
  • Deliver strategic account plans, originate and execute businesses.
  • Be highly responsive and innovative to client needs and proactively drive new opportunities in conjunction with credit and product partners.
  • Manage and be accountable for the ongoing Compliance and Credit risk of the portfolio.
  • Working collaboratively with key stakeholders and leveraging resources within the Bank through exceptional teamwork.

What do I need?

You will utilise and expand your existing relationship manager skills and will have the ability to build strong rapport and sustainable relationships with clients and colleagues across all levels. You will have demonstratable relationship manager skills with Financial Services and/or Banking clients at a Corporate and Institutional level.

Some further advantageous skills:
  • Ability to lead internal deal teams comprising of product specialists, credit analysts, credit officers and senior executives.
  • Strong marketing skills and a disciplined approach to achieve set financial and risk targets, whilst maintaining Westpac's high credit standards.
  • Project management skills and credit experience is desirable.
  • Solid understanding and application of commercial and financial principles.
  • Tertiary qualified with a preference for Business/Finance/Accounting.
