You are a highly motivated people leader with significant experience managing counselling/clinical services, with demonstrated experience of case management and clinical supervision, capable of delivering services in a range of settings to individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds, including the development and implementation of policy and procedure.

About the Role
Reporting to the

Deputy Director:
Student Engagement, you will provide high level strategic advice to the Director: Student Engagement Unit and

Deputy Director:
Student Engagement on the provision of professional, accessible, safe, efficient, and effective counselling services across the University.

You will lead, plan, manage and evaluate counselling services, policies and activities, including the management of matters pertaining to sexual assault and sexual harassment (SASH).

You will contribute to the management of student critical incidents across the University, including the management of students at risk as a member of the Students at Risk Group (SARG).


About the Student Engagement Unit


The Student Engagement Unit (SEU) is responsible for the strategic development and delivery of student facing services that will enhance the on-campus and off-campus student experience for all students.

The SEU also takes strategic steps to inform the quality of the student experience of learning and teaching, support services, the learning environment, and student facilities.


SEU services include Orientation, UniSA Sport, Career Services, Student Life, Student Counselling, International Student Support, Learning Advice, Wirringka Student Services, and Access and Inclusion Services.


The Counselling Service provides access to counselling services for individual students as well as groups of students, and advice on the Counselling Service to the University community as a whole to help support successful academic outcomes for students and promote personal wellbeing.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Postgraduate qualifications and eligibility requirements for full membership of an appropriate national professional body in counselling, psychology or social welfare
  • Significant experience managing counselling/clinical services, with demonstrated experience of case management and clinical supervision, capable of delivering services in a range of settings to individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds; including the development and implementation of policy and procedure
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and successfully implementing strategic and operational plans and providing strategic options and advice to senior staff
  • Demonstrated people management skills, including developing, coaching and motivating staff
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to appropriate, researchbased, best practice pedagogy for the development, evaluation and improvement of universitylevel programs and initiatives, focusing on counselling.
