Job Title: Managing Legal Counsel

VGW is an interactive entertainment company that harnesses technology and creativity to deliver world-class, free-to-play games. We are currently seeking a Managing Legal Counsel to join our Legal team in Perth.

About the Role

The Managing Legal Counsel will lead and manage legal affairs within the company, providing strategic legal guidance, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and managing legal risks. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and overseeing disputes, arbitration, and litigation matters, including coordinating with external counsel and developing litigation strategies.
  • Providing oversight and advice relating to responses to complaints and information requests, and customer or contractual disputes.
  • Providing general commercial advice, advising on commercial agreements, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and engaging with regulators as necessary.
  • Staying informed about changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company and proactively advising management on potential legal risks and implications.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 10+ years post-qualification experience with relevant experience at a top-tier law firm and/or strong relevant in-house experience, preferably with strong technical experience in commercial litigation and strong regulatory expertise.
  • Admitted as a lawyer to practice in Australia.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • High degree of commercial acumen to understand the business' key drivers.
  • Demonstrated adherence to a high standard of professional principles to ensure honesty, integrity, and ethical decision-making in all situations.
