As Operator Maintainer - Mechanical (OMT Mechanical) you will carry out routine maintenance of generation assets at the Channel Island Power Station in DARWIN.

This exciting position is a Contract role and will attract an hourly rate.
Duration of this position is from 18 Sept 2024 to 17 Dec 2024.

To be considered, you must be living, or willing to relocate to DARWIN for the term of this opportunity.

About the Role

  • Conduct on-the-ground operations work, including routine plant inspections, minor equipment isolations, equipment lubrication, routine tests and identification, investigation and rectification of plant defects.
  • Undertake operational and technical commissioning tasks while working with engineering teams and other trades.
  • Undertake routine and shutdown maintenance works including housekeeping.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders from a multi-disciplined workforce (Outage Planners, Operators, Electrical staff, Contractors etc).
  • Liaise with contractors coming on site - managing permits and safety of personnel on the site and to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the power station plant.
  • Work in a team carrying out the training and mentoring of apprentices.
  • Participate in a 7-day, day work roster.

About You

Essential

  • Relevant AQF Cert III (Trade) mechanical qualifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and rectify defects and abnormal operation conditions in plant and generate defect reports ensuring that information and accuracy of defect is of a high standard.
  • Demonstrated competence in the area of workplace safety and commitment to safe work practices.
  • Sound ability to work in a Permit to Work system that ensures safety to all personnel and ability to work unsupervised yet still maintain constant interaction with operational staff.
  • Well-developed computer literacy.
  • Have or be able to obtain an NT driver's licence.
  • Must be able to participate in a 7-day shift roster and in an "on-call" capacity.
