Job Description DIRECTORATEBusiness, Growth & Community CLASSIFICATIONGrade 12 SALARY$79,198 to $87,118 pa + 11% employer contribution to superannuation REPORTING TOTeam Leader Governance & Executive Support EMPLOYMENT TYPEPermanent Full Time THE POSITIONThe Audit and Governance Officer will provide support to the Team Leader Governance and Executive Support in ensuring the compliance and facilitation of activities primarily across Albury City's Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee (ARIC), Internal Audit and other Governance functions.

This will include supporting the administration of meetings, managing workflow, ensuring accountability is maintained, as well as engaging with internal and external stakeholders to assist with delivering key actions across these functions.

Other Governance functions will include supporting the Governance and Public Information Coordinator with processing public requests for information, maintaining Albury City's overarching compliance systems, as well as contributing towards governance frameworks across the organisation.

Responsibilities KEY RESPONSIBILITIESEnsure successful implementation and compliance with the NSW Office of Local Government Risk Management and Internal Audit Guidelines requirements through ARIC and Internal Audit functions.

Under the supervision and support of the Team Leader Governance and Executive Support, contribute to the development and successful delivery Albury City's Internal Audit Plan, including managing the progress of internal audit recommendations, and providing ongoing education and awareness to internal staff to support and facilitate internal audits.

Assist with providing administrative and governance support across the ARIC function, including the preparation of relevant reports, agendas and minutes.

Maintain effective working relationships and engagement with ARIC members and Internal Audit facilitators.
Assist with developing and maintaining policies, procedures and processes.
Assist with other projects being conducted by the Governance and Executive Support Team.

Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Team Leader which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training.

Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to Albury City Policies and Procedures regarding WHS.

Observe appropriate Albury City Policies and Procedures regarding day to day operations including Equal Employment Opportunity policies, Albury City's Dress Code and Standards Policy and Albury City's Code of Conduct Qualifications

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

Based on a 35 hour week, with actual days and times being Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm, with an RDO in accordance with Albury City's RDO guidelines.

This position involves working in a predominantly indoor environment and using a computer is considered a core component of the role.

There may be occasional visits to other work locations.

The position requires an average level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake occasional physical activities, including manual handling tasks as part of a normal working environment.

A medical declaration will be required to be completed prior to commencement.

This position does not require you to wear a compulsory uniform, however you must follow the dress code requirements within the Albury City's Our People Dress Code Standards.

Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely.

This position is delegated with certain powers, authorities, duties and functions of Council under the Albury City Delegations of Authority in accordance with section 378 of the Local Government Act.

This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing.
This position requires evidence of a current Australian National Police Check.
This position is located at the Albury City Administration Building, 553 Kiewa Street, Albury with occasional visits to external sites/depots as required

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Tertiary qualifications in Business, Law or related discipline or extensive relevant work experience.

EXPERIENCE:

Strong experience in interpreting and applying legislative requirements, or knowledge of the legislative framework for dealing with Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee and Internal Audit functions.

Recent experience in working in a public sector environment would be desirable.

SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Good understanding of Governance and Audit principals relating to Local Government.
Strong investigative skills.
Strong ability to form effective working relationships.
Strong co-ordination and task management skills.
High level written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to develop policy and administration systems.

Good computer literacy in the use of a variety of software including, including MS-Outlook, MS-Word, MS-Excel and electronic document management systems.
