About the Role:


As the Senior Education Officer Capability, you will:Deliver professional learning and capability for educators to improve curriculum, teaching and learning for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who have Standard Australian English as an additional language or dialect.

Strengthen school leadership teams, curriculum leaders and teachers' knowledge of differentiation of the Australian Curriculum for IEAL/D learners by focusing professional development about evidence-based teaching strategies, and how to differentiate and scaffold learning to achieve improvement.

Maintain teaching competency and currency of knowledge of pedagogy and current curriculum programs to ensure the delivery of effective professional development.

The successful candidate will be culturally competent.

Through embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, they will develop and deliver services that build the capability of schools to be culturally responsive.

In particular, this role will require a candidate who will:

Demonstrate capacity to provide pedagogical leadership across the DDSW Region to promote the achievement of effective teaching and quality learning outcomes for IEAL/D students.

Demonstrated experience in building and sustaining relationships through clarity, engagement and purpose, with a collaborative focus on school capability and student outcomes.

Apply specialist expertise to oversee and manage all aspects of implementing IEAL/D regional support, including accountability for and monitoring of outcomes.

Provide current educational research, evidenced-based practices and effective use of available technology to lead regional service delivery, with the aim of improving outcomes for students who speak Indigneous English as an additional language or dialect.

Design and implement effective options to align regional improvement in IEAL/D strategies with statewide implementation.
Please note that ravel and overnight stays are a requirement of the position.

Mandatory Requirements:


You must be a permanent employee of the department with a substantive teaching or classified officer role employed under Teaching in State Education Award - State 2016, have current full registration as a teacher and should be aware that temporary internal moves for the purposes of the department's payroll processes are referred to as internal secondments.

Employees' engaged temporarily as Education Officer - Special Duties have a requirement of 361⁄4 hours per week attendance and arrangements as outlined in clause 5.
