The Head of Department - Student Engagement is a new and exciting role at Townview State School support by the Queensland Education Department's Partnerships Initiative.

We are seeking applications from educational experts that understand that student engagement is about teaching and learning, but also know how to support student wellbeing as a priority.

The successful applicant will work with students, staff, parents and the wider community to co-ordinate services that promote success for all students.


This temporary vacancy is open to Expressions of Interest and any extensions to this appointment will not exceed 12 months.

About The Partnerships Initiative


This role is to support the Department of Education's Equity and Excellence Strategy through the Partnership Initiative project piloting the delivery of tailored and differentiated support to 42 regional, rural and remote Queensland schools.

The pilot will be rolled out over three years and may establish parameters and requirements for longer-term support to deliver effective responses to community challenges and opportunities.


The objective of the initiative is to enable participating schools to collaborate with community partners and government agencies to deliver locally responsive and integrated strategies.


The initiative supports the involvement of First Nations communities in decision making to lift learning and life outcomes for young indigenous Australians.

About The Role

You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:


Provide leadership and guidance for the implementation of innovative measures aimed at improving student learning outcomes and attendance in schools where a significant percentage of students may have a disadvantaged background, ensuring quality learning outcomes for all students.

Where requested, prepare all data returns for senior management.
Monitor students' individual performance and behaviour and develop and implement intervention strategies where necessary.

Communicate and work with parents, higher education institutes and State Schools Division to improve learning outcomes, student achievements and attendance.
