Mackay Regional, Australia Lyssna Full time

In A Nutshell

Manage our day-to-day accounting and finance operations and help us further refine all aspects of our financial health and compliance.

A Little About You

You're a numbers guru. You are CA / CPA qualified with minimum 4+ years experience. You might have prior experience in a high growth technology company (but that's not essential). You have strong general accounting experience spanning across all aspects of the accounting and finance functions and are passionate about applying this to our fast growing operations. You have comprehensive knowledge of accounting standards and Australian tax and compliance requirements. You love staying on top of best practices in the industry and enjoy both sharing what you know and learning from others.

You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and the variety of work that comes with working in a small team. You're a self-starter and thrive on autonomy, proactively identifying ways to optimise your own efficiency and output of the team. You're excited about the challenge of charting your own path in a cross functional team.

Attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem solving are your core strengths and you are able to balance these to iterate on existing processes to continue levelling up the team and your work, with solid written and verbal communication skills to disseminate your work through the team in a remote environment.

Who We Are

Lyssna, formerly known as UsabilityHub, is a remote all-in-one research platform that allows users to deeply understand their audience and move in the right direction — faster. Our mission is to put people at the heart of solutions to improve the quality of experiences in the world. With Lyssna, you can set up research studies, recruit participants, and gain insights quickly to inform decision-making from strategy and concept through to design and implementation. The result? Experiences that end users will love.

Lyssna is fully remote and embraces a flexible work culture, with team members located across the globe. Established in 2008, Lyssna is a fully bootstrapped, B2B SaaS platform with a focus on sustainable growth — we've got a big future and we are looking for the best talent to join our team and help us deliver on our mission at even greater scale.

Why We Need You

We have spent the last few years setting up the systems and processes to support our expanding platform and growing business. We're now at a point where we need to optimise our internal operations to support the next phase of growth. As our Accountant, you will be a core part of our Finance and Operations team. You will be responsible for the central accounting and finance function spanning internal and statutory reporting, accounts receivable and payable, payroll and cash management and internal controls.

How We Work

  • We work hard and want to make an impact in the world. We're passionate about high-quality work. We love delivering value to our customers.
  • We support each other and understand that individual success is dependent on the success of everyone else. We invest in our personal and professional growth and consider learning, reflection, and up-skilling central to our jobs.
  • We're a small team that punches above our weight. Competitors have teams 2-4x our size and our delivery cadence is similar to theirs.
  • We hire great people and give them autonomy and responsibility.
  • We're passionate about regularly adjusting and learning from feedback - both in terms of our customer value and our internal ways of working.

Picture Yourself In The Role

In your first month here, you would have:

  • Built a solid understanding of our key financial systems and internal operations / processes.
  • Dived into our day-to-day financial operations, including assisting with bookkeeping, month-end close and reconciliation processes.
  • Put together our monthly financial reporting pack, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Attended regular finance meetings with our founders.
  • Processed our payroll, supplier payments and expense reimbursements.
  • Managed all our statutory and tax obligations in Australia.
  • Paired with our sales team to troubleshoot some questions from our customers regarding their payments and invoices.
  • Had calls with team heads across the business to reconcile their teams' expenses and understand their budgeted spend.
  • Met stakeholders from our key supplier/partner relationships and understood how they contribute to your work.

This role is open to candidates in Victoria, Australia.
