The Manager - Approvals is responsible for the identification and management of all State and Federal Government project related approvals to ensure the Australian Titanium business can continue its Licence to Operate.

The role will involve coordinating surveys and field work for the client's project located near Meekatharra in WA.

The role supports the General Manager by closely following the project design and implementation schedule to ensure that all approvals are workable and timely.


Scope & Responsibility
The key duties of the Manager - Approvals include (but are not limited to):

  • Take a leadership role in the coordination of safe operations and studies
  • Monitor and identify all project approval requirements.
  • Maintain the project approval schedule, reporting on timing risks.
  • Identify approval headwinds and risks and provide strategic advice.
  • Managing consultants conducting baseline and other environmental and social studies.
  • Approvals and licences that will be required for the project include:
  • Power generation
  • Tailings Storage Facility construction
  • Crushing and screening
  • Process Plant (construction and operation)
  • Camp and Admin building with related wastewater treatment and putrescibles (landfill).
  • Achieve an extension to the time limit for proposal implementation for Ministerial Statements 911 and 1119 via a section 46 or 45c process.
  • Support work fronts required to achieve water extraction licensing for the project.
  • Identify and consult with project related stakeholders
  • Lead stakeholder liaison to ensure regulatory and other public stakeholder concerns are understood and addressed.
  • Identify native title and related approvals requirements including implications for project timelines.
  • Assist the team in building and maintaining effective relationships with the determined and registered Native Title groups.
  • Support work fronts required to achieve relevant export agreements with the Mid West Port Authority, or any other group or Port authority related to export of product.
  • Ensure that the business and its approvals needs are understood and received appropriately at Local Government (Shire), State and Commonwealth government and regulator meetings.
  • Develop and implement a framework for managing compliance of operations against Local Government (Shire), State and Federal approvals.
  • Strategically advise the Business on environmental management and compliance issues.
  • Strategically advise the Business on heritage and native title issues.
  • Manage carbon accounting, GHG assessments, life cycle analysis and subsequent GHG Management Plan.
  • Provide advisory support as required to the project development, mining and exploration teams.
  • Ensure all rehabilitation and environmental requirements arising under the company Tenements have been complied with in all material respects.
  • Conduct monthly reporting to General Manager, CDO and at times to the Board.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in mining approvals in Western Australia
  • In depth knowledge of and experience with relevant State and Federal Government environmental and mining legislation and regulatory processes.
  • Experience in relevant shires of Meekatharra, Sandstone, and/or Geraldton will be viewed favourably
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Good project management and organisation skills
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit
  • Creative, innovative, agile and hardworking
