About the Opportunity:

As the Senior Solicitor - Regulatory, you will offer timely legal advice to Energy Safe Victoria under the guidance of the Legal Manager. Your responsibilities include reviewing legislation, coordinating infringements, and collaborating with technical experts on energy safety cases. Your role ensures legal compliance within the regulatory framework.

About the Team:

Join the Legal and Procurement Department within the Legal, Governance, and Regulatory Policy Division at Energy Safe Victoria. Be part of a team working towards ensuring a safe energy environment for all Victorians.

Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Legal Review and Drafting: Contribute to reviewing and drafting ESV legislation, including acts, regulations, and codes of practice.
  • Legal Advice: Provide authoritative legal advice on regulatory matters to senior management, working parties, staff, and committees.
  • External Engagement: Brief external legal entities on specific issues, lead conferences, and ensure stakeholders are informed.
  • Regulatory Support: Coordinate stakeholders, draft plans, update KPIs, and assist in communication for regulatory projects.
  • Compliance and Stakeholder Management: Contribute to policy development, manage infringement notices, and ensure ethical standards compliance.

Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Law and admitted to practice as an Australian Lawyer.
  • Australian citizen, permanent resident, or New Zealand citizen with a valid passport.
  • Current driver's license.
  • Strong regulatory law background with experience in in-house roles or regulatory agencies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.
