We are seeking a Health Information Services Officer to join our team at Northpark Private or John Fawkner Private Hospital in a casual capacity.

Northpark Private Hospital has grown to become one of the largest private hospitals in Melbourne's north, offering a wide range of surgical, medical, maternity and mental health for its patients. John Fawkner Private Hospital is located in the north west of Melbourne. With 186 registered beds, a 12 cubicle Emergency Department, 5 operating theatres, 12 bed critical care complex and busy Day Procedure Unit, we provide a wide range of services to its community. We specialise in orthopaedics, general surgery, general medicine, oncology, cardiology, urology, plastic surgery, ENT, gynaecology. neurosurgery, ophthalmics and vascular surgery.

_Expansion Project to be completed over _two stages - End 2023 and 2024
Work has commenced on the major expansion of both the Northpark and LaTrobe Private sites to ensure we meet the growing demand for quality health care across Melbourne's Northwest.
LaTrobe
Redevelopment and commissioning of the La Trobe Private site to include but not limited to
- Four stryker integrated operating theatres
- Day of surgery admission areas
- New medical imaging space
- Back of house area development including kitchen and new cafeteria space
- New sessional and permanent consulting suite development and upgrade.
Northpark
- Expansion of our established Mental health wards by 22 beds including a 10 bed older persons unit
- Growth of support areas for Mental health expansion ie group spaces, meeting rooms, interview spaces, a gymnasium and patient support areas
As a Health Information Services Officer your responsibilities will include:
- Provision of efficient and effective reception and telephone calls from internal and external stakeholders
- Medical record filing, retrieval, storage and delivery throughout the hospital
- Photocopying of medical records for the purpose of Release of Information
- Filing of loose paperwork
- Compiling medical records
- Day to day functionality of the Health Information Service Department
- Participating in performance improvement activities
- Culling of medical records
- Provide administrative support to Chief HIM, Clinical Coding Team and Clinical Documentation Specialist
Essential Criteria:
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- High attention to detail
- Excellent computer literacy skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Patient Administration Systems)
- Ability to work autonomously and as a team member in a small team environment
- Ability to work within deadlines
- Ability to work in an environment with high volumes of repetitive, consistent work
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience with the WebPAS patient information system
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products eg. Excel
