The Sports Trainer position is designed and suitable for Physiotherapy, Osteopathy and Sports & Exercise Science students.

This position is also ideal for individuals with a Sports Trainer Level 1 or 2 accreditation, First Aid Certificate with CPR Training and Working with Children Check.


  • Be prepared to respond promptly and effectively to incidents, emergencies, or accidents during our clients' sporting events. You are comfortable assessing the situation rapidly, providing appropriate firstaid treatments, and supporting injured individuals.
  • Administer basic medical care such as wound care, bleeding control, bandaging, splinting, and managing minor injuries like sprains, strains and bruises.
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and operation of external defibrillators (AED) confidently and efficiently, if necessary.
  • Conduct initial assessments of injuries to determine the severity and necessary course of action. Make decisions about whether additional medical attention is required and, if necessary, coordinate transportation to medical facilities.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all incidents, injuries and treatments provided during our clients' sporting events.
  • Effectively communicate with players, coaches, event organisers and other staff members to ensure a coordinated response and appropriate followup procedures.
  • Regularly inspect and restock your first aid kit and medical supplies to ensure they are uptodate and fully equipped for emergencies.

About the role - Sports Trainer:

  • Evaluate and assess sports-related injuries to determine their severity and provide appropriate immediate care and treatment.
  • Administer first aid and emergency care for injuries during sports events or training sessions. This includes handling cuts, bruises, sprains, strains, and more serious medical emergencies.
  • Provide basic guidance on nutrition and hydration to optimise players' performance and overall wellbeing.
  • Maintain detailed records of injuries, treatment plans, and progress throughout rehabilitation.
  • Advise players on the appropriate sports equipment and ensure its proper fitting to reduce the risk of injury and maximise performance.
  • Communicate effectively with athletes, coaches, parents and medical professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to player care and injury management.
  • Design and oversee rehabilitation programs for athletes recovering from injuries. Collaborate with medical professionals to ensure proper recovery and return to sports protocols are followed.
  • Collaborate with coaches and school/community sports programs to create a safe and conductive environment for players' development and performance improvement.
  • Maintain CPR and AED certifications to prepare for medical emergencies during sports events.

Overview of the Employment Process:

Requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in Australia.
  • Victorian Working with Children Check

  • Sports Trainer Level 1 or 2 Accreditation
  • Available
    at least 10 hours per week with availability on Saturdays.

Desirable:

  • Driver's licence
  • Flexibility to travel across different suburbs of South Australia
