Your new opportunity:

To undertake the most complex legal matters handled by Senior Principal Lawyers within the team, in the area of law described in the attached schedule. Act as an expert source of advice and provide guidance and development to lawyers in the team as set out in the attached schedule.
As required, support and deputise for the Assistant Solicitor to ensure the delivery of a high standard of client service and other business objectives.

Your key responsibilities:
  • Support departmental initiatives and improve systems to meet business goals.
  • Offer expert legal advice to various Queensland Government client areas.
  • Engage in business planning and project sponsorship.
  • Manage team operations, including recruitment, budgeting, and client billing.
  • Drive business growth through client management and publishing legal materials.
  • Maintain a performance culture, addressing issues promptly and providing staff development.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Ensure team meets productivity and revenue targets.
  • Provide guidance on complex legal matters to team members.
  • Act as Assistant Crown Solicitor when required.
  • Assist with workload allocation and resource management.
  • Support Strategic Leadership Team decisions and promote self-development.
  • Comply with office standards, including client service and billable hours targets.Your experience and skills:

    • Builds and sustains relationships to enable the collaborative delivery of customer-focused outcomes
    • Demonstrates accountability for the execution and quality of results through professionalism, persistence, and transparency
    • Maintains a high standard of practice through governance and risk management
    • Demonstrates and maintains strong skills and a high standard of practice in the relevant areaMandatory requirements:
      • Minimum 4 years PAE in employment law
      • Admission as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland and/or eligibility for enrolment to practice in the Federal and High Courts of Australia
