Enough about us What you’ll do as a Deputy Social & Digital Media Editor:  

The Deputy Social & Digital Media Editor is a crucial role in helping to drive the news strategy across our online platforms. The role requires a strong understanding of the news cycle, digital and social media; generating stories, sourcing and curating pitches; sub-editing copy, design and video knowledge. Assisting daily operations and helping lead a national team of talented online news producers. 

What will you be doing?  

• Help manage and grow 10 News First’s digital and presence on all off platform  

• Assist daily operations of editorial, curate the newslist and lead sub-editing for social & digital team 

• Assist in live events or breaking news, which may include working out of office hours or on weekends as required  

• Work with the editor to maximise audience engagement, monetisation and brand presence.  

• Develop excellent relationships with 10 News First broadcast team  

• Leverage social channels to source and gather content  

• Regular reporting and assist in KPI management for the team 

What are we looking for? What’s essential?   

• Minimum of 3 years at a news organisation/newsroom 

• Experience with real-time analytics, social management and share tools 

• Senior understanding of social and digital platforms including YouTube  

• High attention to detail and excellent sub-editing skills 

• Strong experience using video and image editing software such as Canva, Adobe Premiere and Photoshop 

• Exceptional communication skills, stakeholder management and ability to help coordinate with a national team  

• Ability to work under pressure  

• Proven understanding of the news cycle and reporting 

• A passion for news 

• An innovative mindset when it comes to content creation 

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced news environment 

• Ability to foster and manage key working relationships both within a local newsroom and across a nationally based social team 

• Work in-office 

• A fastidious eye for detail and a keenness for fact-checking 

• Knowledge of media law  

• Flexibility to regularly work outside regular office hours, particularly late nights, and on weekends when required
